Our West Sussex based team, To Have & To Hire Weddings, installed this array of brightly coloured paper lanterns in a marquee set amongst private grounds at a home in West Horsley, Surrey.
Sara, director of the styling company, was instructed to create a canopy of colour within the ivory pleated, clear span marquee provided by Inside Outside Marquees, to add a fun and lively atmosphere to celebrate a Sussex wedding.
Initially 100 lanterns were suspended from the marquee lining but once they were up the bride wanted to go for a full effect and doubled the number! Over 200 lanterns were used in a mixture of 12 different colours combining both bold tones infused with some softer pastel round lanterns to create a colourful yet elegant final look. With such a vast spectrum of colour Sara kept to 3 sizes of 16”-20” paper lanterns so not to ‘over do’ the texture and cause a display too busy for the eye to appreciate.
All of the wedding lanterns were clipped individually onto the pleated lining using our clear plastic crocodile clips which offer a simple installation technique whilst protecting the marquee lining – our purpose designed crocodile clips do not pierce or damage the material. Clear illusion thread (fishing line) was used to suspend each lantern at different heights to create the final effect.
