The roaring 20s & The Great Gatsby

  • The roaring 20s & The Great Gatsby

Towards the end of 2013 Leonardo DiCaprio became king of the jazz age in Baz Luhrman's film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.

DiCaprio plays the on screen millionaire in the 1920's Art Deco era who throws party, after party, after party. Now we are into the new year it is time to start thinking about your upcoming Gatsby inspired weddings and parties and if you are into all things vintage why not look to The Great Gatsby for inspiration.

Celebrating and decorating your venue in the style of Gatsby could not be easier with our paper lanterns. You simply need to think over the top, opulence, rich textures and vibrant colours! Think back to a time when sandals and dresses were strappy, accessories were bold and featured feathers, ribbons and diamonds, and all men looked dashing in a tux.

A wedding colour palette of black, white and gold paper lanterns is just perfect for a glamorous wedding celebration. Recreating the infamous Gatsby parties requires lots of shimmering metallic gold lanterns. Dot these coloured lanterns generously in amongst your black and white paper lanterns. You could even hang gold ribbon from the gold lanterns to ensure they stand out, look bright and reflect the light.

Make sure you continue your Gatsby theme around the whole venue decorating inside as well as outside. In fact, croquet became the sport of 1920's socialites so hang gold and black paper lanterns above the croquet lawn too!
