Wedding marquees are fantastic for use all year round; one of the key differences between wedding marquee receptions and indoor party venues is that you can use the surrounding landscape in your decor. Weather permitting; you can leave the walls of the marquee open.
By letting the outside in, you are immediately stamping your event with a natural outdoors style. And even better, you don't really need much additional decor to do it! So if the weather and your location allow this, removing the walls will not only keep your costs down but also make your reception the one to be remembered.
Hanging Chinese lanterns are a unique way of decorating your wedding marquee; they can be hung outside of the marquee and in the surrounding gardens of your venue in the summer months. We also offer Nylon hanging lanterns to ensure the British weather does not get the better of you and your celebrations! In the winter months Chinese lanterns suspended inside your wedding marquee can provide the additional lighting you may need as the early nights draw in.
Lighting can diffuse, mask an area, or take the eyes where you want them so we have options to suit all scenarios!
Festoon lighting – similar to fairy lights festoon lighting allows you to hang lots of lanterns quickly and easily from one cord. Festoon lighting plugs into a mains plug or a generator depending on where your wedding marquee is situated and means your lanterns will be lit as long as you need them to be. With paper lanterns lit in this way you may not need any supplementary lighting in the wedding marquee.
Individual LED battery units – LED units provide approximately 7 – 8 hours of lighting for your marquee. Each paper lantern required to provide lighting requires a battery unit and each one needs to be hung individually. Although not as bright as festoon lighting this solution offers a more subtle, romantic feel to any area of a wedding marquee.
LED colour changing light bulbs – white paper lanterns look great hung over your dance floor when used with colour changing lightbulbs. Use these blubs in conjunction with our single cord kits to hang these lanterns randomly throughout your marquee.
Hanging Chinese lanterns can be used alone or in conjunction with other decorative materials to make your marquee extra special. Why not create a focal point of lanterns above the top table, decorate the entrance to the wedding marquee or even create a masterpiece in the centre of the marquee suspending lanterns at different heights to give the look of a paper lantern waterfall.
As a guide we would recommend that to provide a full ceiling covering for your wedding marquee you will need 3 lanterns (12 – 14” in diameter) per square metre. Some 8” lanterns can be scattered randomly in amongst the larger ones for variation.
