28 girls were chosen from across Britain and Ireland. 28 girls who had beaten thousands of others. 28 girls were finally reduced to the final 14 who moved into the Top Model house in London, the fashion capital of the world.
The first challenge of the 2013 season saw the 14 girls showcase bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses at the NEC National Wedding Show. Ian Stewart, Bridal Designer of the Year, was on hand to offer the girls his tips on how to sashay down the runway in front of 3000 spectators.
Each week throughout the series saw a girl eliminated until there were just 5 when The Hanging Lantern Company had the pleasure of collaborating with BINTM and Fashion Targets Breast Cancer for the catwalk show. A dinner table ‘catwalk’ was set up at The Garden Museum, London and the whole event was hosted by Elle Macpherson. The theme for the catwalk show was black and white- our paper lanterns ranging from 12” to 36” in diameter were used to decorate the venue in a variety of ways. Our extra large paper lanterns in black and white were used to create a waterfall effect down the side walls of The Garden Museum whilst clusters of our medium and small black and white hanging lanterns were hung in clusters. Drawing your eyes upwards towards the high ceiling of the old church building.
The catwalk table was adorned with black and white accessories including cake stands, candelabras, and plates. In amongst these accessories were our unique white spiked tissue paper pom poms! Iggy Azela kicked off the catwalk show singing her debut song ‘Work’ before the 5 final models showcased lots of bright, neon, summer beach looks down the catwalk table.
To create a sophisticated black and white lanterns use a mixture of small, medium and large paper lanterns in an even split of black and white paper. Hanging your white and black lanterns cascading down the walls can make features of different areas of your wedding venue or our paper lanterns can be used to hide an ugly area!!
Lauren went on to win the ninth series of BINTM with the final taking place in Barbados following weeks of intense photo shoots and challenges but it looks like Naomi Campbell’s The Face is set to replace BINTM as Sky Living’s number 1 model show.
