“The lanterns looked absolutely amazing! They really transformed the entrance into a Frozen wonderland and we were so pleased. Hopefully it brings just a little smile to the families faces who have to be in hospital at this time of year.”

Issy works for Mondelez international (formerly Cadbury) based in Bournville, Birmingham. Every year Issy and her colleagues gather to decorate the Children’s area with the aim of bringing smiles to the faces of the children and families who unfortunately have to be in hospital over the festive period. “We rely on the kindness and generosity of other businesses for donations, gifts and fund raising which is not an easy task however we don’t let that stop us!” says Issy.

Last year the theme of choice was ‘Frozen’ and Issy used some spare pastel lanterns she had left over from her own wedding! Issy comments “The effect created by the hanging lanterns was fantastic and I received endless comments from my guests on how much they loved them so I just knew that the paper lanterns would also transform the hospital entrance.”

After the success of last years’ display the children wanted another ‘Frozen’ theme again this year but Issy wanted the display to be bigger and better than before so she took a chance by contacting The Hanging Lantern Company to see what they could offer or help with. After speaking with one of the events advisors it was decided that the extra-large 30” paper lanterns would create the dramatic impact that Issy was after, she comments “the lanterns had an amazing effect but the large ones just really made it!”

A team of 18 colleagues decorated the area using cool icey tones such as baby blue, pastel pink, crisp white and robin egg coloured lanterns, with life size Elsa and Ana statues for the children to take their photos with.

“In the end we raised around £900 and had lots donated to us from lovely companies such as yourselves. We cannot thank you enough for your support!” says Issy.
