Unicef Next Generation held their annual fundraiser at Loft Studios, London, towards the end of January and raised an astonishing £190,000 for the Children of Syria. The Hanging Lantern Company was proud to be able to work with the Next Generation team to provide the show stopping decorations with our paper hanging lanterns.

#Londonforsyria was a hugely successful sell out event with 200 dinner guests and a further 300 people attending for the evening. Money was raised through a combination of activities - auctioning incredible prizes, gifted donations and the UK government Department for International Development matched the proceeds from the auction.

The organisers carefully balanced the atmosphere and the fun with some hard hitting statistics to remind everyone of the main reason for the night….. with over 5 million children living in poverty and almost 1.5 million children living as refugees with one born a refugee every 20 minutes, the crisis in Syria has been declared the worst humanitarian situation since the war! Each of these vital statistics were used to number the tables around the Loft with each in bold black writing attached on to our illuminated crisp white round lanterns to catch your eye as a regular reminder. Each extra large white paper lantern was illuminated simply by using 2 LED, battery operated Buttonlites suspended inside.

In contrast to the large white paper lanterns over 300 small 8” round lanterns were added in white, turquoise and royal blue to create the dramatic setting for the evening dinner reception. Each small party lantern had one of our LED Buttonlites inside, teamed with the little tea lights on the tables, to create a magical and warm ambience for the guests to relax in.

“Many thanks again for all your advice and help! The event was a huge success and the lanterns looked amazing!”
